Jack Intent
Jack Intent is the final converging technique in the Stackable Jacks Method. It re-evaluates a selected portion of the Jack Tree to stipulate a strategic statement.
Purpose: Reveal a conceptual idea behind a defined scope segment
Input: Jack Tree
Output: Strategic or delivery-bound goal
Mnemonic: PERCEIVE
Jack Intent is the most open and creative technique in the Stackable Jacks Method. It provides an interpretive, high-level context to stakeholders. The technique expresses what a coherent body of scope is fundamentally about by perceiving a common, averaged meaning across similar-level Jacks in the Jack Tree and articulating that meaning as a single, unifying idea.
Jack Intent offers a different way of reading the Jack Tree by:
- Providing an additional interpretive lens across concurrent options.
- Expressing the conceptual essence of a defined scope segment.
- Providing senior-level alignment and communication.
The technique provides an additional means of working with the Jack Tree, helping stakeholders quickly grasp the nature of a dedicated scope and supporting iteration framing and strategic communication.
